A police spokesperson said the fraudsters claimed to be from the ATO and said they were chasing up fines owed by the call recipients for failure to pay their taxes.
The call recipients are told that police will raid their homes or courts will issue warrants for their arrest.
Police advise anyone who receives this call to simply hang up.
