Passengers will arrive at 12.30pm and visit the Tarana Community Farmers’ Markets and then enjoy a Christmas in July lunch prepared by the members of the Tarana Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade from produce sourced from the markets.
There are still a few seats available on the train and bookings can be made at stateminerailway.co.au.
The markets will feature a bush cooking demonstration.
“Locally produced pork, lamb and beef, along with organic vegetables, jams and preserves, alpacas, wines and beer, woodwork and garden plants will be available,” a spokesperson said.
“Ruellas coffee will be serving all day and Tarana Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade will be serving bacon and egg rolls.
“Just Rocky Road will be there to tempt your tastebuds.
“The Loose Goose will have a special kangaroo salami that is made with local red wine.
“Take the trip to Tarana, pick up some fresh produce, enjoy a meal at the Tarana Hotel or Universal Eatery and see the Heritage Train.”
The popular markets, which are held on the fourth Sunday of each month, have presented some diverse attractions this year.
Lamb was celebrated in January to mark Australia Day – Tim and Emily from Down to Earth Produce, based at Oberon, were selling high quality, grass-fed lamb - and a shearing demonstration was held in March featuring local shearers, a wool classer and a spinner using the wool straight from the fleece.
Fly-casting and fish-smoking were the featured demonstrations in April and there was a “gallery in the lobby” featuring artworks and leadlighting.
The featured demonstration were “baby doll” sheep in June.
The markets have featured fresh fruit and vegetables, leather products, woodwork, craft, alpcaca products, baked goods, fresh free range meats, wines, brewed beer, preserves and jams over the course of the year.
