POLAIR was called to Bathurst on Sunday to assist in locating and then arresting a 46-year-old sought by police after allegedly assaulting his elderly father on Saturday night.

Police interviewed the man on Sunday about the alleged incident which occurred at a home at O’Connell.
Police will allege the 46-year-old man entered his parents’ house at around 10.30pm on Saturday armed with a revolver.
He allegedly threatened the pair before assaulting his 79-year-old father, causing serious injuries.
He discharged the revolver into the floor before fleeing in a white Holden Colorado utility.
The 79-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Bathurst Hospital with serious injuries.
A crime scene was established and investigations into the incident are still underway.
Police issued an alert asking the community to keep an eye out for the 46-year-old, and PolAir was called to the area to assist.
While asking for public assistance, police warned the community not to approach the man or his car, as it was feared he was armed with a revolver or a rifle.
Rather than approach the man, the public was urged to call 000.
Inspector Chris Sammut from Chifley Local Area Command confirmed PolAir was involved in both the search for the man and his arrest.
“The helicopter was hovering over a home at O’Connell when they got a visual of the man, and were able to assist in his arrest,” Inspector Sammut said.
The 46-year-old was arrested without incident shortly after 11am on Sunday.
The man was totally compliant while being taken into custody.
After his arrest, the man was taken to Bathurst Police Station.
ILLEGAL HUNTING
OBERON police were called to the Mayfield Road, Oberon area In the early hours of the morning of Sunday, July 10 after receiving reports of people and vehicles trespassing on private land and also allegedly illegally hunting in the area.
Police located a vehicle and a number of people with the vehicle.
Police say the details of those people and the vehicle have been obtained and further inquiries are being conducted.
Infringement notices will possibly be issued.
