Mr Luccarda has strong links with Oberon, having been deputy principal for four years, and after starting his teaching career in Warren NSW, Mr Luccarda was appointed to Oberon High School in 1993 as a science teacher.
In 1996, Mr Luccarda was promoted to head teacher of secondary studies at Trangie Central School, before returning to the Bathurst area as head teacher science at Bathurst High School.
In 2009, Mr Luccarda relieved at Oberon High School as deputy principal for Term 4 which reignited his desire to return to a community he holds in high regard.
Appointed as deputy principal in 2013, 20 years after his first appointment to Oberon High School, Mr Luccarda enjoys close connections with students, parents and the community.
In the past four years he has dedicated his time to improving teacher quality, curriculum development and the welfare of the students.
Principal Ken Barwick said that it was sad for the student body to lose Mr Luccarda’s expertise from Oberon High School, and he will be missed.
“I have particularly enjoyed working with Mr Luccarda because of his strong desire to support all students in a variety of innovative ways,” Mr Barwick said.
“Our school has moved forward in leaps and bounds and grown in size as a result of Mr Luccarda’s hard work and dedication to the students, families and the wider school community,” Mr Barwick said.
“I am almost certain that we will again see Mr Luccarda return to Oberon High School in the future in a different capacity.”
Mr Luccarda will start his new position as Deputy Principal at Bathurst High School in Term 3.
