Oberon has a team in the senior pennants this year.
It has been more than 20 years since Oberon has been represented at this level.
We have had several teams in the A reserve and Quartum Shield pennants competitions in recent years but not the top grade.
On Sunday, Oberon hosted the first round of the 2016 pennants, there were teams representing Lithgow, Blackheath, Leura, Springwood and our opponents on the day, Wentworth Falls. Unfortunately, our team went down 3-2.
The Thursday afternoon 12 hole competition had a strong field. Kyall Ryan had a good day with 30 points to take the honours. Balls went to Don Miller, Sean Mooney, Darren Gordon and Brian Balaam.
A good field of golfers lined up on Saturday to play an 18 hole Stableford event.
The winner in A grade was Scott Rowlandson with a fine round of 39 points.
Steve Serong was the runner up with 39 points.
Peter Dale won B grade easily with 41 points, Dillon Harvey was the runner up with 39 points.
Nearest the pin on the 1st went to Kyall Ryan 3.1 metres, Adrian Poulten took the 7th at 93 centimetres, Allan Cairney claimed the 9th at 3.09 metres and the ever-reliable Barry Stubbs won the 17th at 4.6 metres.
