Blenheim is close to town and is used by walkers, horse riders and bike riders and is a valuable recreational resource for the town residents.
There is obviously an element in town that feel it is quite acceptable to pollute our forests rather than utilise the excellent service provided by our council at the Oberon garbage tip at a minimal cost.
A name has been given to the Forestry Corporation of NSW and NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) so it is hoped that legal action can be taken against the perpetrators.
Jacinta Healy, communications and media officer for the Forestry Corporation of NSW, said while the vast majority of locals and visitors to state forests in Central West NSW do the right thing, unfortunately we have instances of rubbish being illegally dumped at State forests.
“We are working with other organisations including the Environment Protection Authority to prevent illegal dumping and fines of up to $7500 for individuals and $15,000 for organisations, apply,” she said. “Forestry Corporation wants to remind anyone visiting State forests to do the right thing and not dump rubbish in state forests.”
Residents should report such anti-social behaviour to prevent our recreational areas from becoming an unsightly mess.
Let’s set an example for the next generation.
