There are two categories – 12 to 16 years and 17 to 24 years – and entries will be accepted from youth in Oberon, Lithgow, Bathurst and Orange.
Prizes, supported by Bathurst Academy of Music, are first $250 plus music workshop and second $100 plus recording and demo of winning song.
Songs can include anything – your values, concerns, dreams and wishes. Entries close on September 18, 2015 and application forms are available at local businesses, schools and Oberon Council. Entries should be posted to Rosy Ward at PO Box 363, Oberon NSW 2787.
In November, Oberon Youth Council will host a concert at the Oberon RSL Club, with entrants and locals performing their songs. Profits from the concert will be donated to Chris Riley’s Youth off the Streets organisation.
So now is the time to get writing and get singing.
