The golf course is in excellent condition and is a tribute to our head green keeper Dave Robinson and the volunteers that assist him.
Thursday afternoon golf attracted a good field to play the 12-hole event. Doug Collins was in fine form to run out the winner.
Balls went to Bill Edwards, Glen Joseph, Sean Mooney, Bob Bearup, Joe Casey and Steve Hogan.
On Saturday members played an 18-hole Par event that attracted a strong field. Many struggled to play to their handicap, especially in B grade.
The winner in A grade was Bob Slattery who played a fine round of +3.
They tell me that Bob was on a high after reaching an important age milestone just last week. He certainly played like a young fellow any way.
The runner up in A grade on a count back was a young fellow, Thomas McKinnon with +1. In B grade there were only two plus scores, Billy Wilcox with +2 came home a little stronger than Terry Robinson to win on a count back.
Nearest the pin on the first went to Kim Rawlings 3.3 metres, John Crichton was nearest on the 7th at 4.2 metres, Terry Robinson was 4.4 metres on the 9th and Alan Cairney saved his best to last and was 5.3 metres from the pin on the 17th. Balls went to Bob Bearup, Brian Beesley, Tim Crichton, Kim Rawlings and John Crichton.
Golf next week is a Stableford event. Members are reminded that under our local rules they are permitted to take relief if they have a ball embedded in its own pitch mark.
They are permitted to lift and clean the ball and drop it as near as possible from where it was lifted.
