The pavilion will be known as the Muir Pavilion in honour of former Oberon residents George and June Muir.
The Oberon Museum held their first meeting in 1989 and June Muir was elected as secretary while George Muir was elected treasurer – the couple worked very hard to get the museum up and running.
George lived in Oberon for more than 80 years and was the Oberon postmaster for 25 years.
June was an active community member and was involved in scripture teaching as well as establishing the Oberon and District Museum.
George and June decided to move into an aged care facility at Carlingford in Sydney earlier this year to be closer to their daughter, Sue Trudgett. Laurie McMahon said if George and June are well enough they will be at the naming ceremony.
“We have sent out invitations, but if we have missed anyone or you wish to be come along, please get in contact for catering purposes,” she said.
Ms McMahon can be contacted on 6336 1016 or 0429 319 016.
