■ ON SUNDAY, May 24 a hunting arrow was found in a residential backyard, in Oberon. The backyard is used by a small child and two dogs. The resident told police that there had been recent neighbour disputes in relation to the dogs escaping from the yard.
The resident told police they were concerned upon finding the arrow and feared that someone may have taken matters into their own hands. Police have since made a report on the matter and the arrow seized as evidence.
Oberon Police have advised this kind of behaviour is illegal and there are a number of avenues that people can take if they have a problem with domestic animals causing problems. Neighbour disputes can be dealt with by any number of agencies prior to becoming a criminal matter and being dealt with by police.
Police have told residents they should make contact with Oberon Council who have rangers available that can investigator animal complaint matters. Alternatively, visit your local neighbourhood centre for information on agencies that can assist in disputes.
■ SERGEANT Shelley Jackson represented Oberon Police at the 100 years of Women in Policing and Emergency Services Day at Bathurst Showground on Sunday. ■ CHIFLEY LAC police conducted an operation using drug detection dogs in licensed premises in Oberon on Saturday night. Police have advised these types of patrols will become more frequent in Oberon during the coming months.
■ ON FRIDAY, May 22, Oberon Police were called to a substantial gas leak at Albert Street in Oberon. The Oberon Fire and Rescue NSW crews also attended and sealed off the gas leak until AGL crews could attended. A local real estate agent and AGL were informed to complete the repairs required.
■ OBERON Police were called to assist the Sheriff’s Office in an eviction on Thursday, May 21. The Sheriff’s Office were advised they may need police assistance, however on arrival they discover the house had already been vacated.
■ THERE has been an increase in Oberon Council issued rubbish bins being reported as stolen from around the region. There were three reported missing within the last week from Queen Street, Albert Street and Horace Street in Oberon. These bins are accountable to each residential address and a report number is required before they can be replaced. If you know any information on these stolen bins you can make a report to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 and obtain a report number.
