■ A handheld computer playing music was found at Oberon Dam on February 21. If you believe this is yours please contact Oberon Police 63361000 and describe the item.
■ Police attended Oberon Swimming Pool complex on Saturday after receiving a report of damage overnight. What appears to have been a late night swim and trespass at the swimming pool complex has resulted in damage to the pool mat, roller and vacuum. A silver coloured Rip Curl Watch was located at the scene and is now at Oberon Police Station. If this is your watch you can collect it from Oberon Police after providing an explanation as to how it came to be at that location. Parents – perhaps check your children/sons to see if they have lost a Rip Curl watch recently.
■ A recently-purchased Jersey cow and calf have wandered off into the Vulcan State Forest from a Chatham Valley property. The owner reported them missing to police and other agencies as there are concerns they may wander out onto Shooters Hill Road and cause an accident. If anyone locates these two animals, please contact Oberon Police or the livestock officer at Oberon council.
■ On February 19, police received a report that a family on a 4WD trip had not returned home the night before. Police initiated a search in the Vulcan Forest at Black Springs. The Oberon SES unit was activated and a number of other services notified. The family was located quickly by the Oberon SES and the family member reporting was notified. He wished to thank all services for their speedy and professional assistance.
■ On February 18 a house in Herborn St, Oberon was broken into during the day and all rooms were ransacked. No items were reported as stolen. If you have seen strange people or vehicles in the area please contact Oberon Police with these details.
■ On February 15, police received a report of overnight damage to a vehicle in Albion St, Oberon. This incident appears to be an ongoing dispute between parties. There was oil on the bonnet and all tyres were deflated. Anyone who witnessed this matter or any other incidents of damage in the past is requested to contact Oberon Police on 6336 1000.
■ Police and emergency services attended a single vehicle accident in Hunter St, Oberon. The male driver was pronounced deceased and an investigation in now underway. Any person witnessing this incident is urged to contact Bathurst Detectives on 6332 8699.
■ On February 13 police attended a single vehicle accident on Abercrombie Rd, Norway. The driver was located and appeared well affected by intoxicating liquor. Investigations are continuing.
■ On February 11, a silver and blue mountain bike was handed in to Oberon Police Station. This bike is in a very good condition. If you own this bike please contact Oberon Police Station on 6336 1000 and provide police with a further description or proof of ownership.
■ On February 9 the theft of a white Toyota Landcruiser, registration YBE695, was reported to police. This vehicle was taken from a Ross St, Oberon address. The vehicle was recovered on Thursday, February 12 at a Cranebrook address following the arrest of escapee Gavin Marriot. Marriot escaped from Oberon Correctional Centre on February 8 and immediate strategies were put in place to re-capture him. Marriot was charged with offences relating to stealing the motor vehicle and escaping lawful custody.
■ A report of 20 sheep stolen/missing from a property at Burraga was received by police. The sheep went missing between January 12 and February 9, 2015. This is an ongoing incident in Burraga and investigations are being referred to the rural crime investigator.
■ On February 6 a statement was received in relation to the theft and unlawful use of a motor vehicle between Bathurst and Oberon. This matter is under investigation, with all parties aware and assisting police with enquiries.
■ A 12 to 14-year-old female Huacaya Alpaca with coffee coloured fur and a white face has been stolen from a property at Gingkin. The animal went missing between Wednesday, February 4 and Friday, February 6. Anyone with information should contact Oberon Police on 6336 1000.
