Not having an under 18s side last year definitely affected the club as a whole and is one of the things the club is working hard to change in 2015.
Training will officially start on Thursday, January 29 at 6pm at the football ground.
The club encourages anyone who is interested in playing to come along to help boost the existing squad, especially players in the under 18s category.
The Tigers will field four teams this year: under 18s, girls’ league tag, first division and premier league.
Saturday, January 31 is registration day for the whole club – juniors and seniors.
There will be a barbecue and entertainment from DJ Karla and Dave.
“This is the perfect chance to meet and greet everyone who will be involved with the club in 2015, and do some drill sessions with our experienced senior coaching staff,” a spokesman said.
“Organisers want to see all our young local talent in Tigers jerseys this year and in years to come.
“There will be a barbecue and DJ but, most importantly, there will be football and fun.”
The family fun day will start at 1pm.
It’s onwards and upwards for the Tigers this year.
Wade Judd is back in the top role as captain-coach in premier league, with Paul McDonald as assistant coach.
Oberon have arguably two of the best mentors in Group 10 coaching the football squad, who now have a fair bit of experience at the top level.
“Everyone who is already on board is dedicated to having a successful season and we look forward to seeing you all on January 29 to begin a new year for this proud club,” the spokesman said.
Oberon Junior Rugby League Club is also calling for anyone interested in coaching this year.
It requires coaches for under 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s. Anyone interested is asked to contact the club secretary Brent Grady on 0407 902 219 or email bg7808@gmail.com as soon as possible.
