It was exciting for the students to be captured on television as they sung their best notes in the Cathedral chamber at Jenolan Caves.
The whole school felt privileged to be part of such an extravaganza.
Not only did the Zig Zag songsters get to sing with more than 500,000 other students from around the nation, they got to tour the Lucas Cave as well.
The teachers admired how well behaved the students were and how beautifully they sang.
Music Count Us In is Australia’s biggest school initiative with students from 2100 schools nationwide singing the same song at the same time.
The program is designed to support teachers deliver music in the classroom and addresses a lack of training and experience in such a specialist area.
Music has been proven to improve students’ literacy, numeracy, confidence and school attendance.
The program brings teachers, parents, students and the music industry together in celebration when they all sing at once.
The students then took part in the live stream which gave the opportunity for parents and carers who were not at the caves on the day to witness such a special occasion.
