■ Next Oberon Can Assist meeting is on Thursday, November 13 at 7pm at the Oberon RSL Club.
■ Oberon Inner Wheel are having a pizza, pasta, pavlova and plonk night at the St Joseph’s School Hall on Saturday, November 15 at 7pm at $30 per person. Bookings at Melita’s Clippers. This is and over 18s event, a bit of trivia, socialising and good fun.
■ Come along and meet author Nicole Alexander at Oberon Council Library’s next literary supper on Friday, November 14. Cost is $10, including supper.
■ Bathurst District Prostate Cancer Support Group next meeting is Tuesday, November 18 in Daffodil Cottage, Bathurst. Guest speaker is primary community and allied health manager at Bathurst Health Service Jackie Corliss. Tea and nibbles will take place at 4pm, short business meeting at 4.45pm, and our group’s speaker at 5pm. Men and women welcome. Come early for a chat.
■ Oberon Show Society meeting dates are November 19, December 17 and January 21 at 7.30pm at Oberon RSL Club.
■ Australian Red Cross Yetholme Branch is once again having their Annual Morning Tea at Littlebourne, 4031 O’Connell Rd, Kelso. It’s on Friday, November 21 at 10.30am. Cost is $12 per head. Please let your friends know and come along to enjoy this enchanting garden and celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season together. ■ How to Deal with Trauma Gary Raymond is a retired chief inspector with the NSW Police Force, and has a wealth of experience and wisdom for people dealing with trauma. He is in demand for police, ambulance and fire services and will be sharing in an open community event in Oberon on Saturday, November 22 at 10am in the Christian Life Centre building. He will deal with critical incident stress, post traumatic stress, post traumatic stress disorder, grief and suicide.
■ 2014 Greater Edith Community Gathering on Sunday, November 23 from 1pm onwards at the Edith Recreation Ground. Please bring your tennis and/or cricket gear and a plate, something to drink, cups and seats. Sausages, bread, tea and coffee provided (by the Edith Recreation Reserve Trust). All welcome. ■ Calling all entrants for 2015 Oberon Showgirl. Entrants must be aged between 18 and 25 years. Contact Cheryl on 6336 0100 or Glenys 6336 1849. This is a great experience for local girls and includes lots of fun.
■ William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream will play at the Oberon RSL Club for one night only on Saturday, November 22. Tickets can be purchased online at www.trybooking.com/FVWU or via local agents at 133 On Main, Country Belle and Rosedale Gifts.
■ Oberon Show Society Working Bee dates are November 23 and January 31, 2015 at the Oberon show ground. Lunch will be provided for those who come and give us a hand.
■ Oberon Children’s Centre is now taking enrolments for 2015. The centre caters for three to five-year-olds. Contact the centre for more information on 6336 1310.
■ Oberon and District Museum, entry via Scotia Avenue, is open every Saturday and Sunday 10.30am to 5pm, or by appointment. Enquiries 6336 1016.
■ Oberon Roller Derby (ORD) training is now on Monday night’s from 6pm to 9pm at the Oberon High School.
