■ On the afternoon of Tuesday October 7, police received a call that a six-year-old boy  had not arrived home from his school bus, nor was he on the school grounds. Police immediately started a search for the boy, only to be notified a short time later that he had hopped on a different school bus for an adventure. This is a positive outcome, however, police would like parents to stress to their children the importance of letting an adult know where they are.

■ On Thursday October 9 at 10.35am, police attended an address in Bligh Street, Oberon where a vehicle driven by a 67-year-old man had collided with the rear of a stationary vehicle. Prior to colliding with the stationary vehicle, the car collided with a concrete median strip in North Street and a sign. It appeared the man had suffered a medical episode and he was conveyed to Oberon Hospital for further assessment. Police were informed that he later suffered a major stroke and was transported to Bathurst Hospital.

■ At 11.10am Thursday October 9, police received a call to Duckmaloi Road in relation to  log truck that had rolled, throwing its load of logs all over the roadway and creating a large diesel fuel spill. The driver suffered severe facial injuries and was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital for treatment. The Duckmaloi Road was closed to all traffic for eight hours while the logs were collected and the diesel spill was cleaned up. Police were greatly assisted by Oberon Rural Fire Brigade, Oberon Council workers and the heavy vehicle tow truck.

■ While police were in attendance at this incident, vehicles were diverted around the site from Oberon towards Tarana or Jenolan Caves Road along Boggy Creek Road. Another heavy vehicle trying to avoid the accident site ended up stuck on a hairpin bend on Edith Road, Jenolan Caves. Highway Patrol officers assisted the driver. 

■ On Friday October 10 at 1pm, two vehicles were involved in a collision at the  intersection of Edith Road and Dudley Street. Five people required treatment and were conveyed to Oberon Hospital. Police were greatly assisted by NSW Fire and Rescue Oberon, NSW Ambulance Service, local NRMA and members of the public. 

■ On Saturday October 11 at 6.15pm, a 48- year-old male rider lost control of his motorcycle at the bottom of the Oberon Mount and collided with the concrete median strip. The O’Connell Road was closed to all traffic for a period of an hour to allow the air ambulance to land on the roadway to transport the rider. The rider suffered chest, abdominal and pelvic injuries and was conveyed to Liverpool Hospital. NSW Ambulance from Oberon came upon the scene and stopped to assist the rider. NSW Ambulance Bathurst arrived and stabilised the rider before transporting him to the waiting helicopter. Police would like to thank the members of the public who were first on scene for slowing traffic and allowing the rider to remain safe. Again RFS, O’Connell personnel and Oberon Council workers assisted greatly with traffic control and clean up of the scene. 

■ Later that evening while patrolling Oberon’s schools, police came across a fire hydrant that had been tampered with, turned on full allowing water to gush through the school grounds. Police, with the assistance of NSW Fire and Rescue, Oberon turned the hydrant off. 

■ On Sunday October 12, a report was received in relation to a break-and-enter at a property on Lagoon Road, Lagoon. The break-and-enter occurred between 10am and 8pm. Police would like to hear from anyone that may have seen people acting suspiciously in the area between these times. Please contact 6336 1000.
