Mr Toole said a component of the NSW Footy Facilities Fund supports improvements to football grounds and facilities and through this grant the Club will receive $27,486 for the construction of a new canteen at the Oberon football grounds.
“This is an outstanding level of support to a regional football ground and, as such, this is a facility that will be of significant benefit to both players and spectators alike,” he said.
“Sport plays such a pivotal role in bringing members of the community together. The Fund is an initiative of the NSW Government and the NRL who continue to provide an incredible level of support to encourage participation and involvement in sport.
“This facility will make an incredible difference to the Club and the members I met were so excited with the grant, especially as they were the only ones to receive assistance in the Western Region.”
NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg said the fund also supports promoting greater inclusion in rugby league and encouraging more environmentally sustainable facilities.
“Funding is available to assist rugby league clubs at all levels to improve the quality, availability and standard of facilities. This may include spending on items such as new seating, goal posts, canteens, lights, fields, fencing or dressing rooms.” Mr Greenberg said.
Mr Toole delivered the good news to committee members and players last Wednesday.
