The strongest field of golfers for some time played an 18-hole stableford event.
The course is magnificent due to recent warmer weather, but this still didn’t help our members improve, as many still struggled to score.
The winner in A grade was Neil Whalan with 35 points on a countback, with Adrian Poulten on 35 points.
The B-graders fared a little better. Kevin McGrath played exceptionally well to score 38 points and win the day.
Eric Whalan wasn’t far behind and was runner-up on 37 points.
Nearest the pin on the first was Eric Whalan with 7.6 metres, Michael Farkas (a fresh-faced visitor to the club) was only 3.9 metres on the seventh, Rob McGrath closed in on the ninth at two metres and Dennis O’Connell claimed the 17th with 3.4 metres.
Balls went to Marty Hotham, Graham Hotham, Kim Rawlings, Robert Hayden, Barry Lang, Daren Gordon and Terry Robinson.
Golf on Thursday was won by Bill Wilcox. Balls went to Laurie Murphy, Steve Serong, Don Miller and Neil Evans.
In October we will be starting a junior competition at 9.30am on Saturday morning. Initially, juniors will play six holes, and it is hoped to have a senior player with each group. If you are interested or know someone who would like to play, please contact Barry on 6336 1352 or visit the club on a Saturday morning
