Two members of Oberon Council braved the bucket on Sunday to raise funds and awareness for motor neurone disease (MND).
General manager Alan Cairney and Councillor Clive McCarthy were doused with not one, but two buckets of icy water by Cr McCarthy’s delighted grandchildren.
The dousing took place in Brenda Lyon’s wonderful daffodil-filled garden on Sloggett’s Lane, which was open for the Daffodil Dawdle.
Mr Cairney said it was Mrs Lyon who challenged the pair in the first place, and it was decided to do the challenge in the garden as Mr Cairney was there catering for the Rotary Club.
Mr Cairney said people in the crowd donated money to the cause, and both he and Cr McCarthy also donated money.
“People can still donate by giving to Clive, myself or Brenda,” he said.
Mr Cairney said, as yet, they have not challenged anyone else, but that he hasn’t ruled it out.
In fact, he hinted at a possible target for the next challenger.
“It would be great to see Bathurst council get involved, to see David Sherley get dunked,” he said.
