The first open day will be on this Saturday, September 13 at Spark Electrical at 146 Oberon Street. The second open day will be held at the Rural Fire Shed at Black Springs the next day.
It’s a family friendly day and all local residents are encouraged to come along to join in the fun.
There will be lots of information on your fire risk and knowing what to do in a bushfire situation.
A bushfire survival plan can help you make important decisions about what to do during a fire, like when to leave, what to take and what to do with animals.
The fact is many people have died during bushfires because they’ve left their decisions to the last moment.
Members will be on hand for advice, and appointments can be made to assess your property.
It’s a fact that a well-prepared property is more likely to survive a bushfire.
A well-prepared property includes trees and shrubs that have been trimmed, and a cleared area where you and firefighters can protect your home if needed.
Captain of Oberon Rural Fire Brigade Lance Sulley said they will have information available for those wishing to become an active member of the brigade.
“We have 14 members now but we cannot have too many,” he said.
