While many people are aware that councils manage rates, roads and rubbish, the breadth and diversity of their work often goes unrecognised.
Oberon Council is offering school students and community members in the Oberon LGA, tours of our Administration Centre and Council Chambers, the Water and Sewerage Treatment Plants, Works Depot, Visitor Information Centre, Library, and also some of our community sporting facilities.
Council staff will give a brief talk with each tour group to provide information on the facility and the career opportunities available in each area.
Local Government Week at Oberon Council will start with facilities being opened to the public on Monday, 4 August from 10am.
The Oberon LGA small schools will be touring the facilities on Friday, 8 August and the Oberon town schools will tour on Tuesday, 5 to Thursday, 7 August.
Bookings are essential and can be made in person at the Administration Centre 137-139 Oberon Street, by phoning 6329 8100 or by emailcouncil@oberon.nsw.gov.au.
Bookings close on Monday, July 28 so be sure to get in quick and organise a tour.
Local Government Week provides the perfect opportunity for the community to gain a better understanding of how Council operates and the variety of services we provide.
