This is an excellent gallery space and the organising committee are to be congratulated on staging a really cheerful exhibition, well-organised with very generous prizemoney.

Eleven section winners from our local competition were entered and the standard was high.

Seventeen council areas across the Central West participated, and works from approximately 150 finalists were on display.

The three judges, one from the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, had a difficult job on their hands.

Congratulations to Gerard O’Brien, whose structure “home farm chook shed” took first place in the building/large sculpture category.

Reace Vavasour also took a first place in the high school functional category for “ferret wheel”.

Highly commended certificates were awarded to both Conner Vavasour for his entry “turntable” and The Library Crafty Kids for their entry “Shorty the sheep’s mob”.

So well done to all Oberon entrants and special congratulations to the place winners.

The theme for the 2015 Waste 2 Art competition will be scrap metal and Bathurst will be hosting the Regional Exhibition.

So thinking caps on and get those creative ideas happening.
