On Friday night unknown drivers decided to take to the Recreation Ground to do “burn-outs” after the huge storm.
Because the ground was wet the destruction was quite severe.
Oberon Council parks and gardens overseer Rodney Roberts said the game of soccer scheduled for Saturday afternoon had to be cancelled.
“It was far too dangerous for anyone to play on – I think the game had to be transferred to Bathurst,” he said.
“We have been busy filling in the holes and replacing all the grass divots.
“We will have to roll the oval to get it back to its original condition.
“It’s a shame as the ground was looking very good after recent rains.”
Anyone who saw anything on Friday night is urged to contact Oberon Police.
