In addition we had the privilege of a dozen visitors using the course in the afternoon.
The lovely rain during the past couple of weeks has softened the course up, reduced the run and put a brake on the scoring.
There were only three golfers on Saturday who played to or bettered their handicaps.
The winner in A grade with a good round of 38 points was Bart Fitzpatrick, the runner-up with a good round leading into the Championships was Adrian Poulten on 37 points.
One of our latest recruits Paddy Foran played a good round to win B grade, and Red Zamparini was the runner-up.
Nearest the pin on the first for the second week in a row was Bob Bearup with 4.5 metres, on the seventh Kyall Ryan with 4m, Rob McGrath on the ninth with 5.4m and Alan Cairney on the 17th with 2.5m and missed the putt.
Balls went to Kevin McGrath, Steve Serong, Bob Bearup and Hugh O’Neil.
Next weekend is the first two rounds of the Club Championships. A grade will tee off at noon. The seeded group is Rob McGrath Hcp 3, Kyall Ryan Hcp 3, John McKinnon Hcp 6 and defending champion Robert Hayden Hcp 7.
B grade will tee off at 11:45am. The group will be Adrian Poulten Hcp 11, Steve Serong Hcp 11, Anthony McGrath Hcp 12, and Brian Roberts Hcp 12.
Due to the way the numbers in B1 and C grade the handicap range will be ‘B1’ 16 to 20 and ‘C’ grade will be 21 to 36. There are no seeding for these two grades.
