The scope of the works consists of culvert extensions, shoulder reconstruction, pavement rehabilitation and surfacing.
The early works included tree removals, pruning and compensatory tree planting and fencing which has been completed.
RMS obtained approval to remove pine trees from a private property. The trees caused shadowing which caused black ice in the winter months.
Last Wednesday harvesting equipment was on site removing the trees. Property owner Ian Gordon said to the best of his knowledge the trees were between 60-70 years old.
Unfortunately, they had reached the stage of being dangerous as some were falling over.
The trees were planted by Col Elwin and it is definitely the end of an era in the Oberon district.
