Tyler entered three events and blitzed all her competitors in every event. Tyler is only 9-years-old but competes in the under 11s age group.
On Saturday, in the One Lap Time Trial, over a distance of 433 metres, Tyler came in with a fantastic time of 36.91 seconds. Her nearest competitor came in at 42.61 seconds and the boys’ best time was 37.3 seconds.
Tyler’s father Michael said the best time in the under 13s boys event was 36.82.
“So Tyler’s time was fantastic, she really had a great meet,” he said.
In the second event, Four Laps Scratch Race, Tyler took control from the beginning with her tackful cycling. Out of the 14 competitors Tyler came in first, 40 metres ahead of the rest of the field.
On Sunday Tyler was entered in the Two Laps heats, with three competitors in each. Tyler’s tactics to keep her competitors well behind her close to her hips saw her go straight into the final which she won by a good 40 metres.
On the weekend Tyler received three gold medals in the State Titles. The next meet is at Bowral on ANZAC Day.
Tyler said her success is accredited to her coaches from Bathurst Cycling Club Damian Bennett and Marion Renshaw.
Returning to cycling, Tyler’s sister Courtney also had a win in the Open Carnival Womens Wheel Race.
