Yesterday the tally was close to $22,500. The site is updated regularly with donations, amounts raised and challenges to others. The site also gives an update on the progress of the Kelly family.
A fundraising account has also been set up by Oberon Leagues Club treasurer Russell King and his wife Kerryn through the National Australia Bank (NAB) in Oberon.
The first donation of $500 was deposited on Monday from the Leagues Club.
Russell said not everyone has Facebook or internet banking, especially the elderly, so now they can just drop into the bank with their donation.
Money can be donated to The Kelly Family Fund, BSB 082771, account 396220180 at the NAB in Oberon Street. Account balance as of yesterday was $2360.
Russell said many other individuals and organisations are in the midst of organising their own functions to add to the fund.
“Many will feature in the new year – the recovery for the Kellys will be ongoing and they will need support from the local community.”
The Kelly Family fundraiser has gone national with support from Channel 10 News and Ray Hadley from 2GB.
Anyone organising a fundraiser or wanting to donate can contact the Oberon Review to have details published or call Kerryn King on 0407 215 433.
