Members played a stableford event for trophies donated by John Brien. A grade was won by Barry Lang on a count back with 35 points, and Bob Slattery was the unlucky runner up.
In B grade it was a different story, with Denis O’Connell letting the hand brake off and came in with a good round of 38 points.
Daren Gordon continued his good form to be runner-up on 37 points. Balls went to Peter Dale.
There was no golf on Thursday due to the poor weather conditions.
In January there will be further refinements to the handicapping system that has been phased in over the past couple of years.
All scores will go into golflink as stableford score, and when a stroke event is played golfers will be required to keep a stableford score as well.
Par events will have a straight conversion of the par score to a stableford score, so a -2 will be recorded as 34 points.
Clubs will be receiving a slope rating so that when a golfer plays another course, his handicap will be adjusted according to the slope rating of that particular course.
Next week’s golf is a stableford event with trophies donated by Kevin McGrath. If you haven’t been to the golf club lately, on your next visit you will notice that the old brick toilet block has disappeared in preparation for the commencement of stage one of our building works.
Thank you to Brett Moore for lending his concrete saw and to all the clubs volunteers for their assistance in carrying out this work.
To date we have spent over 150 hours on preparation and removal of the material, and our thanks go to Paul Behan, Peter Dale, Mick English, Barry Lang, Dick O‘Donnell, Laurie Murphy, Anthony McGrath and Robert McGrath for their time and equipment in completing this task.
