THE Wallerawang Bowling Club president Dianne Hawkin and Western District president Ruth Harries gave a warm welcome on Wednesday, June 19 to NSW director Denise Huender, Nepean regional representative Fran Laker, vice presidents Carolyn Pugh, Kate Houtsoukas and Jackie Lewis and match chairperson Barbara Wooley from the Nepean region for the Regional Pennant play-offs between Nepean and Western regions.
After an enjoyable morning tea, chairperson of match Kay Benger called the cards and conditions of play and the three teams adjourned to the green for competition.
The number 2 playoff between Hazelbrook and Penrith City proved to be a cliffhanger. The score was level with only the 21st to be played. The officials and spectators from both regions held their breath waiting for the last bowl to be delivered. The skip from Penrith delivered her bowl to draw the shot and take out the Pennant.
In the number 3 Pennant, Lithgow City won one rink and lost the other rink, but had a total score of 41-28 to win the game. Congratulations to the Lithgow side of F King, V Brown, K Bernard, C Lord, P Johnson, J Barnes and I Hunter, who will contest the state final to be played in August in the Central Coast Region.
The number 4 Pennant between Lithgow City and Springwood was won by Springwood.
NSW director Denise Huender and regional representative Fran Laker presented the Lithgow City number 3 side with certificates and wished them success in the State Pennants in August.
