The rodeo was last held around 12 years ago and was once a huge community event, drawing large crowds from throughout the state.
Organisers hope the return of the event will be met with the same enthusiasm.
Bree Rowlandson the Oberon Rodeo Association Committee said it all began with a few locals talking about how it would be great to see the rodeo run again.
Ms Rowlandson said fundraising events have been held throughout the year and local support for the event has been great.
“A lot of work has gone into getting this up. It’s been a big effort but will be totally worth it to see it happen again,” she said.
Ms Rowlandson thanked local businesses for coming on board as sponsors and said the day would not be possible without them.
There’s a full line-up of events and with over $15 000 in prizemoney up for grabs the event will surely attract some of the country’s best rodeo competitors.
Although the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association central entries have closed there is still a local event and junior events that entries will be taken for on the day.
The Oberon First National Geoff Maher Local Steer Ride will offer a $500 prize.
Those wanting to compete must be in the appropriate attire and have not consumed any alcohol or other substances.
Entry is $30.
There will be plenty of food stalls and a bar on the day to keep the crowds satisfied, including twisted chip and waffle on a stick, snow cones, coffee and dippin dots icecreams. The event is strictly no BYO alcohol.
To keep the kids entertained there will be pony rides, a merry-go-round, jumping castle and face painting.
For those wanting to try some simulated rodeo action the PBOZ bus and mechanical bull will be on site.
A highlight of the event will no doubt be comedy clown Big Al who will be keeping the crowd entertained throughout the rodeo.
Local band Strictly Business will be playing to keep everyone entertained after the rodeo.
The rodeo promises to be a great day out for participants and onlookers, at the Oberon Showground on Saturday.
Those planning to come the afternoon before and set up are reminded that there will be no parking around the arena.
All the action will kick off at 10am and entry is $20 adult, $10 children (under three, free) and $50 family (two adults, two children).
