Victory for Tigers at Gulgong

18 Jun, 2008 04:09 PM
The Oberon JELD-WEN Hexion Tigers travelled to Gulgong on the weekend to take on Gulgong, who were last years Premiers. The team was expecting a very tough match.

The Gulgong team ran with the breeze in the first half of the match, and reached a 22-10 lead. The excitement rose as Oberon hit the lead with only a few minutes to go. Gulgong had a free kick right in front in the closing moments on the game, and obviously intimidated by the mighty Tigers, missed the kick.

With a bit of an end of game biff, in which Scott Foley was sent for an early shower one minute before the end of the match, Oberon hung on to win a very exciting match 28-27.

The Oberon Tigers played the best match they had played this season. Shawn O’Neill in the backs played an outstanding game, as did the forward pack.

This weekend the Tigers will play Blackheath on Sunday the 22nd of June starting at 2:30pm in Blackheath. The following weekend, it will be another home game against Portland.
