Under 18s unable to tame the Dragons

25 Jun, 2009 09:29 AM
DESPITE some fine individual performances the U18 MCF Engineering and Shell Oberon Tigers went down 40-12 to Mudgee Dragons at Mudgee on Saturday.

Mudgee scored first and got away led10-6 at half time. Dave Sellers and Tim Cooper showed strength making some good metres time and time again as they tried to break through the Dragons defence. They were well supported by Kirk Roberts and Blake Fitzpatrick.

Blake Miller is a true Tiger playing up for U18s. His great footy skills and determination got him over the line to score the only try for Oberon just before half time. Blake Fitzpatrick kicked the goal.

Jacob Cummins and Tyler Hughes made several breaks during the match and were unlucky not to score. Steve Cook, Matt Callan, Bill Maloney and Karlin Alogi tackles well and never gave up. Reece Finlay, Jim Long and Jake Coles were tackling hard and making metres.

Final score Mudgee 40, Oberon12. Try scorers: Blake Miller 1, Reece Finlay 1. Goals: Blake Fitzpatrick 2.

The same handful of players is turning up each week for training and matches and showing plenty of Tigers heart.

With 18 players on the books it should not be hard to get the numbers each week. Come on U18s, don’t let your team-mates down. Get back that team spirit and go like a Tiger.

This week the U18s play Lithgow Workies at Oberon Sports Ground, with full canteen operating. Come and support your team and your town.
