Tigers score dominant victory over St Pat’s

13 May, 2010 10:07 AM
The Tigers travelled to Bathurst and notched up a team-boosting 38-6 win against St Pat’s on Sunday. Congratulations to all players – you made your club and your supporters very proud.

Tigers dominated in defence and attack in the first half keeping St Pats in their own half. Shaun O'Neil received the ball minutes into the game and sprinted the length of the field to score a try.

Luke Christie Johnston, Tyler Hughes, Mick Roels and Jamie O'Neil showed St Pat’s their strong defence making tackle after tackle and keeping the opposition from going over the try line.

St Pat’s tried to fight back with one player sprinting up the side line before being stopped by Scott Hawken.

Good play then saw Jamie O'Neil go over for the second try. A few penalties followed and the Tigers kept up their good play. Trevor Long darted over the try line just before half time to take the score to 20-0.

In the second half Luke Hayden set up many plays of the ball and good strong runs from Brian Maher saw Jamie score the fourth try. With only 10 players on the field the Tigers put more points on the board – a terrific team effort by all the players.

Try scorers: Jamie O'Neil 3, Shaun O'Neil 2, Trevor Long 2, Tyler Hughes 1. Conversions: Shaun O;Neil 2, Luke Hayden 1.

It was a difficult task to select the best players on the day as it was a strong team with all the players giving 100 per cent.

St Pat’s were kept scoreless until the last 10 minutes of the game, with one try.
