The Oberon under 11 Tigers travelled to Orange on Saturday 26th July to take on Orange CYMS Gold. The young Tigers played a very strong game, matching the bigger Orange side in attack and defence, the CYMS boys winning the game after a terrific battle.
The Oberon boys all put in a great effort, playing their best game of the season, showing they can compete with one of the front-runners of the competition. Ryan playing captain led his team by example with some sound defence, returning to the field after an injury to his wrist Ryan continued to play well. Up in the front row Daniel, Matt and Noah all ran the ball up strong, making valuable meters for their team. The second rowers Brody, Jackson and Baye tackled the CYMS boys all game handling whatever the bigger pack threw at them. Bryce organised the side, by consistently talking and motivating the boys. Jamie our halfback as usual played well with his pinpoint kicking and an excellent passing game. The centre combination of Will and Trent got together, pulled off some bone crunching tackles, enjoying their game the pair worked well together. Joe on the wing was put under pressure and handled it very well, making some excellent runs and great tackles. Liam saved at least three tries with his cover defence showing a good understanding of a fullbacks roll. Congratulations boys on an outstanding effort, you all played well making it very difficult to separate the points. Man of the match, three points went to Ryan Armstrong, two points to Liam McHutchinson and the one point went to Brody Maher. Player’s player voted by the boys went to Baye Mullins.
