OBERON Tigers travelled to Portland to take on the Colts in cold, wet conditions in round five of the Centennial Coal Cup competition on Saturday.
The Tigers were ready for a big game and in the first half they dominated Portland in defence and attack, keeping them in their own half.
A good display of league and team effort saw the Tigers put the first points on the board.
Playing as a team and setting up many plays of the ball Oberon quickly took control.
The Tigers defended also their own line well.
Oberon threw the ball around a lot more than their opponents, creating many scoring opportunities.
This approach certainly won the game for the Tigers.
It was a huge effort by all the team and congratulations on another win.
Scott Hawken got his hat-trick with three tries – Trevor Long 1, Tyler Hughes 1, Luke Christie Johnston 1, Dallas Booth 1, Tim Cooper 1. Conversions: Luke Hayden 5.
The Oberon Tigers will welcome their sponsors and supporters to our home ground this Saturday, June 5 for a great game of rugby league.
The Tigers will be up against Blackheath. Kick-off is at 2:30pm. This should be a great match to watch. The Tigers have had three wins, one draw and only one loss. Come and support the Tigers. Centennial Coal Cup results: Oberon 42 defeated Portland 12, Blackheath 16 defeated Kandos 6 and Lithgow Bears 22 defeated Wallerawang 18.
