The mighty Tigers ended the Centennial Coal Cup semi final hopes of Kandos last Saturday with a strong 36-8 win.
The Tigers played solid football throughout the match, completing sets and forcing Kandos to fight hard to get the ball out their own half.
A massive tackle from Scott Hawkin during the Kandos first set and a mistake from Kandos saw Trevor Long sprint nearly the length of the field. He was brought down just 20 metres from the line. With support from his team-mates Evan Roberts then scored the first try for Oberon.
The Tigers dominated possession, and despite penalty after penalty and the ref couldn't stop the boys out-playing their opponents.
Luke Hayden crossed the line for one more try before half time and it was Tigers 8-Kandos 4. In the second half Kandos came out firing but couldn't re-gather their game. The Tigers crossed the line for five tries to one in the second half and that sealed the win. Final score: Oberon 36 to Kandos 8.
It was a win the Tigers deserved with big efforts from all of our players. You did your club and supporters proud.
This Saturday Oberon will face Blackheath in the finals. The Tigers will roar to the finish, come along and support them. The team will miss Jack Fitzpatrick in their line up this week, Jack is out for the rest of the season with injuries. Good luck on Saturday and GO LIKE A TIGER.
