Junior league enjoying another busy season

19 Aug, 2010 11:49 AM
Oberon Junior Rugby League is having another busy year. With only two games of the regular season to go many are wondering what happened to the year. The wet weather has been great but has caused some training sessions to be cancelled.

The mini league has been very successful again allowing Oberon players aged six to nine to play non- competitive matches against Bathurst.

The 10s to 16s have played some great footy throughout the year.

The club AGM on August 10 elected a committee but there are still a couple of important positions to be filled.

Another meeting will be held after training at 5pm on August 24 at the Leagues Club to fill the vacant positions. Thank you to outgoing committee members.

The presentation day will be held on Sunday, September 19 from 11am. There will be jumping castles for the juniors, a sausage sizzle and plenty of fun for the family.

Throughout the year the club has been running a monster raffle. First and second prize is a new car and there are NRL grand final packages to be won with a total of 16 prizes. The raffle is backed by Toyota and the NRL. All money raised from ticket sales is retained by our junior club.

There a few tickets left so see a committee member and get your tickets. All sold books are due back ASAP. The closing date is September 17.

It is great to see Billy Kitt is doing well in Sydney.

Billy, who is an Oberon Under 16s junior, was signed by the West Tigers and is attending St Gregory’s College in Campbelltown while completing his schooling.

Billy is off to New Zealand for a tour to play footy and we wish him well.

Our thoughts are with the Hotham family and wish them all the best from all at the Junior League.

Another big thank you to all the club sponsors and look forward to your support in 2011.

Go the mighty Tigers.
