JELD-WEN Hexion Tigers competition front runners

22 May, 2008 04:09 PM
The undefeated JELD-WEN Hexion Tigers are now competition front runners in the Centennial Coal Mid West Comp on 6 points.

This Saturday we are home to Kandos at 2.30pm and will be a tough game as the Kandos boys are showing great form.

Great family day assured for all at Gala Day on 31st May. 2000 people are expected to attend. Lap of honour celebrations with players and supporters coming home from all over the place to pay homage to our legendary football teams who broke all records from the late fifties through the sixties and into the seventies.

Program for the day

9am junior rugby league commences with Under 8’s. There will be 5 junior matches to be completed by 12.50pm.

1.00pm commencement of Lap of Honour which will see all able players and officials walk around the ground led by horse and sulky followed by vintage car parade. Special emphasis will focus on the legendary era 1958 - 1975.

When lap completed the presentation of new jerseys sponsored by JELD-WEN Hexion will be presented to the current team.

The presentation of the plaque acknowledging the Tigers great contribution and incredible record to the game will then take place.

Before the game begins a minute silence for the deceased players and the release of the black and gold balloons to the heavens by family members will be a very moving tribute to those great players.

2.30pm A tough encounter is anticipated between the Oberon Tigers and the Lithgow Bears which will keep the crowd on their toes.

The “Shake, Rattle and Roll” Jumping Castle and the “Play On Wheels” will entertain the children, face painting will be another feature. The business houses are supporting the celebrations by decorating their windows with black and gold balloons.

At the end of the game a social and old video footage will be shown at the Leagues Club.

Organisers are encouraging supporters to arrive early and watch junior games so as to have orderly traffic flows through the gate during the day. If you have blazers or footy jumpers from the past you are encouraged to wear them or carry them with you during lap of honour. Like a Tiger!
