A depleted Oberon Rugby League MCF Engineering and Shell under 18s team travelled to Cowra to take on a 21-strong side, eventually going down 34-4.
The Tigers’ 11 players, also faced an extra challenge as three of their players were from the junior under 16s side.
The 11 players ran out on to the field and held their heads high; playing with courage, strength, ability and pride. Commendation to all is deserved.
There wasn’t any one player that stood out above the rest. All players tackled and made some hard hit-ups.
They all played a good game of footy – everyone had their own job to do, on top of some of their teammates jobs as well. The team defended well.
At half-time Cowra was leading 8-4. Tyler Hughes was able to break the Cowra defence and score the try for Oberon.
In the second half the shortage of players took a toll on the under 18s Tigers. They tired, but never gave up defending.
Cowra re-grouped with fresh players and took the opportunity to cross the line several times, eventually winning 34-4.
The young Tigers represented the club and Oberon and did it with pride.
The team was made up of Blake Miller, Karlin Agoli, Bill Maloney, Kirk Roberts, Levi Agoli, Reece Finlay, Blake Fitzpatrick, Tyler Hughes, Dave Sellers, Jake Coles and Jacob Cummins.
The team would like to thank its supporters who follow the team from game-to-game, week-after-week. Thank you, to Darren and Buddy Hotham for your support and the time you devote towards these players. Thank you to DJ's Cafe and Cave Pizza Oberon for your kind support each week.
Next week the Tigers play Orange Hawks at Wade Park.
