Cheer the Tigers and fight cancer

22 Jul, 2010 09:59 AM
OBERON residents are invited to rally their spirits and warm-up their voice boxes for a whole lot of cheering, and head down to the football on Saturday.

Oberon Tigers will be hosting the Call to Arms football day, and everyone attending will be able to watch footy and support a good cause at the same time.

There will be raffles, great football, and of course an opportunity for Oberon to raise awareness of men's cancer, which is what Call to Arms is all about.

Many men in the Oberon community have been affected and touched by cancer, and this great day of football is a way to get more information out there about cancer.

The day will feature junior and senior football games, kicking off with the Under 6s at 9am.

The senior league Centenary Coal Cup game against Portland will begin at 2:30pm.

Tigers players will wear special pure white one-off jerseys for the event, and several of these will be auctioned to raise funds.

All proceeds from the gate will go to Call to Arms, which is raising awareness of cancers that affect men.

Because the day is about raising cancer awareness, the wonderful local branch of CanAssist will be at the grounds on the day.

Locals are invited to go and say hello and find out what the CanAssist organisation is all about.

It is also hoped there will be a static broadcast of local radio station High Top FM at the grounds.

There will be monster raffles, which has been overwhelmingly supported by local businesses with great prizes.

The good times will continue long after the football, with a kids’ disco beginning at 5pm until 7pm, the drawing of the raffles and the auctioning of the jerseys and other Tigers’ supporters gear, both junior and senior.

Be a part of the community this Saturday, July 24 – come and watch the football and raise awareness for men's cancer.
