THE Senior League Committee has appealed for those responsible for destruction of the Geoff Maher Memorial Trophy to show courage and sportsmanship by coming forward and apologising to the Maher family and the committee.

The committee said damaging speculation regarding possible offenders must be resolved, bringing closure to this matter.

Presentation night

PLANNING for the black and gold rugby league presentation night to be held on November 14 is now is full swing.

A big crowd is expected with many footballing families returning to Oberon for the long-awaited book launch and the Tigers presentations.

A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of trophies to current prizewinners by past players from the 1959 minor premiership team.

The team of 1969, now 40 years on, will also be involved with the presentation.

The 1969 team won the premiership after managing to scrape into the finals equal with CYMS.

Tickets are now available at Oberon Videos and Discs and at the Leagues Club at $30 a head. It will be a night not to be missed

New memorial trophies

THREE new memorial trophies will be up for grabs on presentation night.

To perpetuate the memory of three of our legendary players, and one incredible secretary, we are indebted to their generous families. The new trophies are: The Ken Nicholl Memorial Trophy for Most Outstanding Defender in All Grades, the Norm and Ron Brown Memorial Trophy for Rookie Of The Year and the Don Elwin Memorial Trophy for the Coaches’ Award.

The Tigers Club is fortunate to have such great support from the families of these legendary players. Thank you.

The Rod Humphreys Memorial Trophy for the Best and Fairest also reaches a milestone this year - it has now been in existence for 50 years. Have a look at the names on this hallowed trophy. More on the big night next week.
