The future of Oberon soccer is up in the air

17 Dec, 2009 08:21 AM
ON Saturday, December 12 Oberon United football Club’s AGM was held.

Only a small number of people attended the meeting, and even a smaller number were prepared to accept nominations for positions.

Clinton Corby accepted the nomination for president, and was voted in.

Gavin Douglas accepted the nomination for treasurer, and was voted in.

Ron Carley accepted the nomination for property officer, and was voted in.

Positions left vacant are secretary, senior vice president, junior vice president, junior registrar, senior registrar, canteen supervisor, publicity officer and public officer.

During the year many people have presented ideas to the committee, and now the committee ask for all interested players and parents to come forward to the next meeting on Friday, January, 15, at 7pm at the Royal Hotel.

The committee will be making contact to players and parents, and asking to spare some time during the year to help run the club, many hands make light work.

At this meeting, if the above positions are not filled, the club will be forced to fold.

This means that no soccer will be played in Oberon next year.

All of the senior teams made the semi finals in 2009, and you are the people who are being invited to attend the next meeting.

Parents, if you love watching your children play the game and enjoy themselves, then please come to the meeting.

Currently three people cannot run the club, and as stated, the club will fold if a committee cannot be completed.

If you wish to make enquiries, please contact Clinton Corby on 6336 0191.
