Riders learning at Pony Club

15 May, 2008 11:13 AM
Sunday 4 May 2008, dawned a beautiful Autumn day and the young people of Oberon Pony Club met to have fun while learning more on how to ride, train and care for their horses under the watchful eye of volunteer experienced trainers.

Instructor Peter Wright coached the riders doing flat work in the morning and then proceeded to jumping classes in the afternoon. Other groups received instructions on dressage, working horse challenge and mounted games training or enjoyed the modified cross country trail.

Members were busy training for the Lithgow Mounted Games to be held on 26 May 2008 at Lithgow and also for the 4 day North West Equestrian Expo to be held at Coonabarabran to be held from Saturday 31st May to Tuesday 3rd June 2008.

Oberon Pony Club meets on the first Sunday of the month and welcomes new members and their families. Rally days are designed to cover all aspects of riding. There is a canteen available on the day. Pony Club exists to offer children and young adults to the age of 25 the opportunity to learn the skills of riding and general horsemanship and compete at state, national and international events.

Please come along or telephone Kay & George Whalan on 6335 8434. End Lynette D’Arcy-Evans 02 6336 0453 (home) 0412 756 332.
