Oberon suffers pennants defeat

OBERON Men’s Bowling Club lost its first pennants match of the season last week going down at home to a strong Lithgow outfit.

oberon lost all three rinks. The last rink was tied18-all on the 20th end and Oberon was holding shot but the team lost three with their last bowl.

From leading the competition Oberon is now in fourth place. Changes have been made to the teams in a bid to strengthen them.

Teams for the away game against Lithgow Workmen's on Saturday, March 27 are: J.Taggart skip, M. O'Neill, D. Webb and M. Mckechnie, D. Evans skip, P. Finlay, J. Whittaker and R. Gear; Hans Braun skip, B. Fitzpatrick, B. Bright and K. Braun. Reserves in no Particular order: G. Anderson, Helmut Braun, G. Dalbusco, M. Duffy, K. Kitt.

There will be no pennant games on the Easter weekend of April 3.

Round six will be played on April 10, away at Wallerawang.

Oberon had two teams in the District fours on March 21with P. Finlay’s team of B. Bright, B. Fitzpatrick and M. O'Neill winning comfortably 31-14 over Hazelbrook to advance to the next round on March 28. Good luck and congratulations.

D. Evans, M. Duffy, J. Whittaker and D. Webb went down by two 24-22 at Lithgow Workmen's against Lawson.

Congratulation on a big effort by a team of new bowlers with only the skip with lots of experience in big game situations.

Gavin Bright resigned his presidency due to family commitments. The new president is Ken Kitt. Congratulations Ken. The next chook run will be on Sunday, March 28. The new starting time is 10.30am.
