MORE than 60 riders attended the successful Zone 3 Mounted Games Championships at Oberon on Sunday, May 10.

Teams came from Bathurst, Carcoar and Lithgow to compete.

In the beginners’ event first place went to Lithgow Pony Club with Oberon Pony Club second. Oberon finished first in the under 12s with Bathurst second and a combined Bathurst/Lithgow team third. Oberon also took first and second in the 12 years and under 17 years. Third place went to Bathurst. In the Associates Oberon took out first place with Bathurst second.

The overall winners on the day were the Oberon Jerry and the Pacemakers, team in the under 12 years. They were unbeaten in all 10 games.

They won the Zone 3 trophy over eight other teams which were in the 17yrs and under age group. This was a good result for the team.

The games are qualifiers for the State Mounted Games.

Teams are eligible to compete if they had qualifying times in any five of the ten games played. Three Oberon teams have qualified and will be going to the State Mounted Games later this year.

Oberon Pony Club meets on the first Sunday of the month and welcomes new members and their families.

Rally days are designed to cover all aspects of riding.
