Last weekend’s campdraft action

04 Mar, 2010 09:20 AM
OPEN, novice, ladies, junior and juvenile drafts attracted 950 entrants – both local and from across the state – to the Oberon Campdraft last weekend.

Derelle Brien of the Oberon Campdraft Committee said there were so many entries events began on Friday afternoon to fit them all in. She said that it was great to see locals competing in the draft, especially the first-timers giving it a shot, and equally as great to see locals coming to watch.

The winner of the main event, the Open draft, was Nigel Cable from Rydal and his horse Ivory, who won at the Warwick Gold Cup draft.

Derelle said it was a great weekend for the Oberon community with many visitors staying in the town and supporting local businesses and services.
