It was another beautiful day for Netball in Bathurst last Saturday with some great results again from our teams. Oberon are doing really well so far and we hope everyone is enjoying the competition. Following are some match reports:-
Under 12’s Snow Devils
Last Saturday the Under 12’s Snow Devils played Eglinton Rascals in what turned out to be a close game.
Our first quarter got off to a slow start but once we settled down the rest of the game went well. Our defence was great with Emily, Zoe, Emily-Jayne and Rachael doing a great job intercepting the ball and taking control of the rebounds. Emily, Courtney, Zoe and Caitlin moved the ball up the court in attack to the shooters. Aimee, Sophie, Zoe and Courtney played really well in the goal circle to bring the final score to Oberon 11 - Rascals 12. Well done girls.
Thanks to Sophie for playing for us this week and good luck to the girls for the 24th May, as we have a bye next week.
Under 14 Oberon Huskies
Highland Pine Huskies played a closer game against Calare Chicks last weekend. The girls played well together again winning on points in the 1st, 3rd and final quarter giving us an overall win of 24-12. Stand out player for this week in defence was Hannah, getting lots of intercepts and turnovers, while Shaye and Raff also defended well in the centre court and Sarah tried hard in GK. Tara had a great game in GS and worked well with Casey and Ashleigh who made some excellent goals in GA. Maddie and Laura worked hard in attack through the centre court. Our Player’s Player points this week went to Laura for 2 points and Tara for 1 point. The Coaches award went to Sam for being versatile and playing well wherever she plays. Well done again girls!! We have a tough game ahead this Saturday against Collegians Gawjuz Girls so good luck, play hard & have fun. Thanks also to all those parents and family members who watch and cheer at our games, we appreciate your support!! GO HUSKIES!!!
B Grade Tigers
On Saturday, Oberon Tigers came up against CSU 3 After a late start to the game Oberon was quick to take the lead. Jayde and Alannah shot some quick goals while Gemma and Renae tried hard to keep the CSU shooters out of their circle. Anita was all over the court helping everyone, Natalie threw some great passes to the shooters right near the goal. Oberon had a great victory defeating CSU 60-9. Good luck to the girls on Saturday.
