More than 160 horse riders from all over NSW took part in an 80km endurance ride over the weekend of 5 and 6 April. The first 30km of the course were on Native Dog Station followed by 50km through State pine forest. The winner, in a time of 5 hours and one minute, was Louise McCormack of Yass.
Organiser Mark Freeman of Cedar Ridge Stables said the sport of equestrian endurance riding was growing in popularity and Australia was one of the top three countries in the world at the sport. With support from the United Arab Emirates there are hopes that the sport will be included in future Olympic Games.
Mr Freeman said Cedar Ridge Stables planned to host five more endurance rides at Native Dog Station in the next 12 months, with riders from across NSW participating.
