Big roll-up for Oberon ladies’ golf open day

Oberon Ladies Golf Club held a successful open day on April 19 with sponsorship again provided by Ray White Real Estate.

More than 50 golfers representing Bathurst, Blackheath, Leonay (Penrith), Lithgow, Portland, Springwood, Wentworth Falls and Oberon attended.

The club thanks the starters, Wilma Artery, Alan Benson and Lyn Harris and the chefs and chief cooks and bottle-washers Alan Benson, Doug Collins and Ian Mackenzie and Spotter Mike Graham.

Winners were:

Division one – Scratch winner Jenny Elliott (Wentworth Falls); Runner-up Maureen Cole (Springwood).

Handicap winner – Joan Graham (Oberon). Runner-up Jenny Murray (Bathurst).

Stableford winner – Sue Webb (Oberon). Runner-up Stella McGrath (Oberon).

The Nearest the Pin in Division 1 was Stella McGrath of Oberon and the Longest Drive was won by Robyn Slattery, also of Oberon.

Division two: Scratch winner – Alma Hotham (Oberon). Runner-up – Elizabeth Mackenzie (Oberon).

Handicap winner – Bev Dale (Oberon). Runner-up – Marjorie Webb (Oberon).

Stableford winner – Maree Arrow (Oberon). Runner-up Joan Doonan (Lithgow).

The Nearest the Pin in division two was Alma Hotham of Oberon and the Longest Drive was won by Yvonne Murray of Blackheath.

Division three: Scratch winner – Joan Sullivan (Oberon). Runner-up – Mandy McAlister (Wentworth Falls).

Handicap winner – Elizabeth Mawhood (Oberon). Runner-up – Denise Schoevers (Springwood).

Stableford winner – Helen Toohill (Oberon). Runner -up – Margaret Brownsell (Springwood).

The Nearest the Pin in division three was Joan Sullivan of Oberon and the Longest Drive was won by Jocelyn Boyd, also of Oberon.

On April 21 a fun three-stick event was held with trophies by Helen Toohill.

The winner in division one was Joan Graham with Katie Graham second and Robyn Slattery third.

Division two was won by Bev Dale.

Second was Maree Arrow and third Helen Toohill.

The nearest the Pin in division one was Robyn Slattery and in division two, Bev Dale.

On May 5 there will be an 18 hole stroke event, Monthly Medal, the third round of the WGNSW Medal and the Mabel Mackenzie Brooch.

An 18 hole stableford will be held on May 12.

The 27-hole Foursomes Championships will be held on May 19 and an 18 hole par event on May 26 with pointscore trophies sponsored by Oberon First National Real Estate and the last day of the Second Quarter Eclectic competition.

Don’t forget the monster garage sale on Sunday, May 2 from 10am at the golf club with a sausage sizzle and Devonshire teas also available.
