Under 11s
THE match started at fast pace when BWG Haulage Under 11s hockey team played All Saints’ College at the weekend. A quick goal to ASC caught Oberon on the hop and the girls defended hard. Our strikers were unlucky not to pop a few goals but ASC outplayed us and scored twice early in the second half making the score 3-0. This week’s Oberon First Nationals players player award went to Stephanie Fisher. Well done Steph!
Under 13s
ON May 15 the Highland Pine under 13s girls had a 3-0 win over All Saints’ (ASC). Goal scorers were Jessie, Tarah and Meg.
Last weekend’s game was against Pat’s and the girls won 2-1. Forwards Emma, Keely, Meg, Shannon, Beccy and Jessie continue to keep the pressure on their opponents. They passed the ball well allowing Jessie and Meg to each score a goal. Halves Eliza, Sarah, Katie and Tarah are communicating well to get the ball through to our forwards.
Magnificent backs Ivy and Chloe and our goalie Holly did some fantastic saves to stop Pat’s from evening the score. The MPH player’s player was Ivy Moore.
Under 15s
Oberon Trash-pak Under 15s were defeated 6-1 when they played Souths at the weekend. Our goal was scored by Sarah McCusker after great teamwork enabled us to get through the Souths line.
Emily, Casey, Emma, Claire and Sarah were great in defence, chasing the opposition all over the field. Our attack – Leah, Jessie, Courtney, Shannon, Amy and Tanisha tried hard all game. Kaitlin had a great game in goal, saving many attempts. At half time coach Jaydem asked the girls to run hard and lead to the ball and the team had a better second half.
This week’s Shell Players Player went to Casey Colley and Emily Kirkman. Thanks to Tarah Foley for being a reserve this week. Thanks to coach Jaydem.
District hockey
FOUR Oberon Junior Hockey Club girls who play for the Under 13 Bathurst Junior Girls District Hockey Association travelled to Lithgow on Sunday for their first district carnival.
Meg Booth, Beccy McCusker, Shannon Foley and Tarah Foley played in Division One, Pool B against five other teams from Orange, Crookwell, Macarthur, Canberra, and Newcastle.
Bathurst played well winning one game, drawing three and losing one.
After drawing the last game against Newcastle they were just out of the semi-final, and finished in sixth place.
This is a great effort by all the girls and they must be congratulated.
Our next carnival will be at Canberra in June and the girls will be even stronger.
