Under 11s

Oberon BWG Under 11s Hockey team came home with a 1-0 win after a tight match against a much improved All Saints’ team last weekend. Olivia Sullivan scored for Oberon after some beautiful passes from Ivy, Shannon and Danielle.

Oberon attacked for much of the match making many forward line breaks but we couldn’t find the back of the goal.

Our defence players worked really hard all game to push the ball up, along with our halves who where relentless in their tackling.

A big thankyou to Vanessa Muldoon from the under 9s who stepped into the goalie gear and played really well this week as Laura McFawn was sick (hope you are feeling better Laura).

This week Brian's McDonald’s encouragement award went to two players - Vanessa Muldoon and Chloe Swannell. The Oberon First National players player award went to Emma Oxley (Elmo).

A big thankyou to parents who get the girls to training on Friday's and front up with the girls every Saturday in Bathurst, even thought the whether can be very unpleasant.

This week’s win has put the team in second place in the competition pointscore, a good position leading into the semi-finals in a fortnight. This week we play the competition leader South's, so good luck girls.

Oberon under 15s

THE under 15 girls took on All Saints’ on Saturday in the second last round of the season. With a few players unavailable some under 13s were given a run.

A big thankyou to these girls.

The game started well for Oberon with some excellent field play and passing which allowed them to put pressure on All Saints’.

This resulted in an early goal to Stephanie White and gave the girls some added confidence in their attack.

The teamwork continued to improve throughout the first half as the players adapted to different positions and this led to a second goal by Steph - 2-0 to Oberon at half time.

The girls began the second half the way they finished the first and immediately put pressure on All Saints’, resulting in a run of goals to the Oberon team - a hat trick to Steph White. two to Emma Swannell and one each to Leah Robinson, Jessie Foley and Sarah Whalan.

The Oberon girls finished with an 8 -1 win pleasing the huge vocal crowd of supporters and their sponsor team Oberon Trash Pack. (Thank you for your team spirit).

All players deserve a mention for their efforts; Kaitlin White, whose goal keeping skills are showing real promise, Claire Sullivan for some good attacking runs and excellent defence, Tanisha Miller, great positional play and strong defence, Tarah Foley, good attacking runs and passing, Casey Colley, excellent support play and good attacking runs, Meg Booth,

Strong defence and passing, Sarah Whalan, great vision and excellent all round play, Emma Swannell, excellent positional play, Madeline Robinson, great support play, Shannon Fisher, excellent hassling of opposition and good ball skills, Leah Robinson, great leads and general play, Jessie Foley, excellent support and passing and Steph White, excellent striking and great ball control.

The Oberon Engineering Players player award was a tie between Stephanie White and Emma Swannell.

Well done to all 13 girls.
